December Cold Super Moon
Full Cold Super Moon
"I am both lock and key. What I seek is also looking for me."
The last Full Moon of 2017 is here, arriving on either Sunday or Monday, depending where you live. This December Full Moon is sometimes called the Cold Moon, the Long Night’s Moon, or the Oak Moon.
This Full Moon is a Super moon, which means it’s orbit is very close to earth. Super moons appear around 10% larger than a regular Full Moon. Your emotions might feel larger. There are opportunities for deeper releases. Illumination and insights might be popping and crackling.
This Full Moon is in Gemini; the Sun is in Sagittarius. Gemini is ruled by Mercury, which also goes retrograde on the 3rd until December 23rd. This is an excellent time for wrapping up loose ends, finishing up a project, or turning inwards. Clear communication must be highlighted here. Be self-reflexive: examine the ways in which you communicate to others. Do you really need to fight that battle? Pause before speaking about complicated subjects. Slow down; re-read your emails or texts before you send them.
Treat yourself and those around you with compassion. We start a Mercury retrograde period on December 2nd that goes until December 23rd. We are in a perfect time to really begin reflecting on the highs, lows, and lessons of 2017: one of the most intense, complicated, and challenging years for the collective on record. Your year, absolutely, must have been touched by some of the circumstances in one way, shape or form. This is the time to pause, to get philosophical, to go back and use the various scenarios in your life this year as a metaphor for your soul's evolution.
What reoccurring patterns kept popping up in your life, this past year?
What gifts presented themselves?
Where in your life where you pushed right against your very own edge, and what happened when you decided to climb down the other side? What in fact, was on the other side, rewarding you for new tactics, your new treatments of challenges?
On this one December Super Moon, reflect on where you are. What are you feeling? What do you need? Make some notes on where you are, what that feels like, and what you'd like to manifest for yourself in the next season, months, year.
With the glittering light of the Moon dancing across the sky, you may be inclined to do some spell work.
Remember: Magic is an art. Magic works if you do.
You are both activator and participant. You are the spell!
Not the crystal or the Tarot card or the altar cloth or the athame or the chalice or any of your tools, chants, or herbs. You are the both the conduit and the conductor!
Remember to use your magic. Remember to honor yourself.
Happy Full Moon!
