Full Moon in Pisces at 4:55 pm PST

Ancestral Walkways & Radicaling Rage
by Dr. Jennifer Mullan

This Full Moon is asking us to contend with our collective need for a new paradigm, a different rhythm—one in which a great, big, expansive S-P-A-C-E dwells. One in which so much more than possibility awakens; a place where deep emotional healing and magic can arise from ancestral slumber. Under the Moonlight we are compelled to call back our Little Self, that which was denied, deprived, and defied. We are compelled to call forth our Future Self, that which intuits, ignites, and invites.

This Full Moon beckons us to make S-P-A-C-E for the boldly furious callings of liberation, imploring us to talk about what enrages us all, but with the tender, wise voice of our grandmothers. Grandmother Rage, as I affectionately call her, demands that we claim and love this deep well of unearthed emotion. She demands that our activism be mutual and magical, cyclical and rhythmic, embodied and etheric. Grandmother Rage is an accumulation of anger, unresolved trauma, and deep historical grief. She is being unearthed in much of the collective because it is time for the shadow of our psyches to release and reincarnate. Grandmother Rage reminds us to radicalize our shadows and romance the energy—we do this through an invocation. With clarity and a shaky voice, we bring together our collective Little Selves, and our collective future walkways.

The Grandmother Rage in our collective bellies reminds us that it is time for the shadow walkers, the oppressed, the folks on the margins, to rise! Much like many of our ancestors, our understanding is often limited to the stories passed down from masculine-identified people, deeply underscored with “right and wrong” messaging.

How do we begin to unbind ourselves from the cords of past traumatic memory while holding pregnant space for clarity in the present? How can we trust in divine timing and make preparations—and S-P-A-C-E—for what is inevitably to come?

We can do so through Ancestor Walking. It is an awakening and remembering—it is youthful and elderly, it is blissfully ignorant and poignantly aware. Ancestor Walking involves recognizing that the pain and hurt we collectively feel is also a deep desire for liberation. It reminds us to perceive our value as sacred, not just worthwhile. But the most important space is the “and”: the grey matter in between the synapses. It is not either/or. It is both/and. This reminds us to invoke the “and” in us all, with acknowledgment and permission.

It is in our divine birthright to experience collective freedom, to tell the truth, and to release in order to grab the reins. No one knows hopelessness and violence like the spirits of the marginalized and oppressed. We must invoke radicalized rage.

During the Full Moon many enjoy releasing. For a Full Luna in sweet Pisces we can invoke the dualities and complexities of radicalized rage with song and affirmation.
